Chester Edward West was a pilot with 245 RAF Squadron during the Second World War.
From Hugh Halliday's Typhoon and Tempest: "...on March 25, 1943, involved F/O J C. Baldwin (British) and Sgt, Chester Edward West (R116824; later commissioned as J92933). They were scrambled to 8000 feet. West spotted two Fw.190s diving out of the sun and radioed a warning - not soon enough for Baldwin, who was wounded, shot down, but rescued. West battled the enemy fighters, fired at one head-on, and damaged it."
