Flying Officer Gordon Errington of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, was part of 438 Squadron. He is mentioned in a press release dated February 4, 1945. "It was clearly visible three or four miles away, climbing almost vertically." He was reacting to seeing a V2 cutting a vivid orange trail through the heavens. That day, the RCAF Typhoon fighter bombers were bombing against enemy transport lines north of the Ruhr, scoring six rail cuts and damaging two locomotives. More information about Errington can be found in Typhoon and Tempest by Hugh Halliday.
