1923 (Approximate) - May 13, 1994
Flight Lieutenant John Carr of Morrisburg, Ontario was part of 439 Squadron. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was mentioned in a press release of February 9, 1945. The City of Westmount squadron destroyed two locomotives as well as cutting main lines that day. "One was a passenger train with about 15 coaches. It was at first light and we couldn't see the details, but we left the engine smoking. The other was a locomotive pulling some freight cars. We got the engine but there was such a lot of flak that we did not make another pass at it." For more information about Carr, please read Typhoon and Tempest by Hugh Halliday.
