Flying Officer Ronald Claire Getty was a pilot with 438 Squadron.
He was born in Wheatley, Ontario, son of Roy Clare Getty (1898-1973) and Julia Isabelle (nee Campbell) Getty (1901-1974) of Wheatley, in the Chatham-Kent Municipality of Ontario..
On June 16, 1944, he was the pilot of Typhoon 1B MN298 (F3-A) on a bombing mission. His aircraft was shot down by a Bf-109 flown by Oblt Schauder of 10JG-26. F/O Getty was able to bail from his aircraft by parachute and evaded capture, making his way to Allied Forces.
Ron became a civil engineer and resided in Burnaby, British Columbia. He was married to Colleen Faye Little.
