Flying Officer Gordon Robert Errington of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, was part of 438 Squadron. More information about Errington can be found in Typhoon and Tempest by Hugh Halliday.
He had arrived at 438 on 28 December 1944. He is mentioned in a press release dated February 4, 1945. "It was clearly visible three or four miles away, climbing almost vertically, reacting to seeing a V2 cutting a vivid orange trail through the heavens. That day, the RCAF Typhoon fighter bombers were bombing against enemy transport lines north of the Ruhr, scoring six rail cuts and damaging two locomotives."
He was downed by flak in Typhoon PD476 F3-E on 21 February 1945 and captured, made a PoW.
He passed away on 4 January 1971 in Vancouver BC, Canada.
