Flying Officer Cecil C. Cole joined 438 Squadron on March 8, 1945. He was from Lansing, Ontario, a district of Toronto.
F/O C.C. Cole flew 24 combat Ops between 17-April-1945 and 4-May-1945 with 438 Sqn. (RCAF) After the disbanding of 438 Sqn, F/O C.C. Cole was part of the B.A.F.O. with 412 Sqn. (RCAF) based at Uetersen, Germany from 28-Sep-1945 to 15-Mar-1946.
On page 110 of Typhoon and Tempest Hugh Halliday writes that on New Year's Day 1945, F/O Cole shot up an enemy aircraft, strikes being seen on the tail while stationed at Eindhoven.
From his obituary, dated January 2, 1999, Ottawa, Ontario, Cole had also served flying Spitfires. He retired as an employee of Foreign Affairs. He was married to Margaret (nee Groh).
